Postmates worked with NewDealDesign to develop Serve, an on-demand delivery robot that uses lidar, sonar, computer vision, time-of-flight cameras, and GPS to navigate city sidewalks for local deliveries.
With direct competitors like DoorDash and Kiwi investing heavily in autonomous delivery, we wanted to ensure that our robot would distinctly reflect the Postmates brand DNA and feel fresh and iconic.
Robots are polarizing so we wanted to not only ensure that Serve would not only operate safely and respectfully in its community, but also make people happy. Inspired by lovable robots like R2-D2 and Wall-E, we chose to design an anthropomorphic robot to bring fun and delight to the delivery experience.
